Its proudly protected natural landscapes cover thousands of acres, from the shores of the North Sea to the Harz mountains in the south.

Activities aplenty

From canoeing along its rivers, or coastline, to cycling along thousands of kilometres of cycle paths and mountain trails, Lower Saxony is a sporty, thrilling and adventure-loving destination. You can hike along the Nordpfade (North Paths) from the Harz mountains to the coast, or bite off a little section to call your own!

Cultural powerhouse

Lower Saxony is filled with eye-popping architecture showcasing a region that knows how to impress. It’s always been fond of a showy statement - Marienburg Castle, the former summer residence of the Royal House of Hanover, is a great example of that. As is the stunning Elbe Philharmonic Hall, in Hanover’s reinvigorated harbour.
