A stunning tour from Lindau to Lauterbrunnen
It’s a three and a half hour journey - but what a journey - from the Black Forest through the Alps, crossing some of Central Europe’s most spellbinding scenery on this jaunt from Germany to Switzerland.
From Fairy tales to Frozen this is a magical two-country adventure. Stop at Lucerne on the way for coffee and cakes in an elegant Swiss riverside cafe: what better way to arrive in your second country!
Gitzenweiler Hof ★★★★★
Lindau | Germany
Set within a peaceful woodland setting, close to the shores of Lake Constance, Gitzenweiler Hof is custom-made for outdoor-focused fun with a decidedly watery twist. Bavarian hospitality at its best, the parc goes all out - and then some - to keep everyone happy. From horse riding lessons to letting the kids loose in their very own farm and bio-garden and a smashing pool complex - no two days need to follow the same rules.
Explore further afield to discover vineyards, brilliant boat trips or day trips to Austria, which is also close at hand. A cable car ride up the Pfänder Mountain from the town of Bregenz offers even more panoramic views. Closer to parc, you're just 6 kms from Lindau itself, a popular harbour resort with a choice of restaurants. But it’s the thrill of a third country en route to your second parc - tiny little Lichtenstein - that seals the deal for us!
Lauterbrunnen | Switzerland
How many waterfalls would make you happy? How about 72 - that’s the selection within walking distance of this spectacularly located parc, deep within Switzerland’s Lauterbrunnen valley. Some waterfalls are close enough to see tumbling down the mountain sides as you sip on a drink from the parc’s bar. This cosy, family-run site offers an authentic Alpine atmosphere. It’s one of our most peaceful and pretty parcs, but the drama is never far away.
Within walking distance you can catch a train which climbs up to the peak of the towering Jungfraujoch. You could walk it, but the hot chocolate on the train swings it for us. For kid-sized thrills take the short trip to the village of Lauterbrunnen, just a short stroll away. A ‘Gästekarte’ is available from the parc, offering discounts to the village’s attractions, which include a swimming pool, mini golf and a museum, or visit Innsbruck for shopping, eating and lake cruises (with dinner thrown in!).
