Climbing Holidays

Parcs, and places, where - if you’ve got the head - we’ve got the heights!
Whether hiking, scrambling, bouldering or rope climbing...climbing holidays provide a pure hit of adrenalin and a panorama of amazing views for those who plan on going up in the world. Plenty of our parcs offer easy access to the slopes: both big and small. From the jagged peaks of the Pyrennes to the snow-topped summits of the Alps, we’ve plenty of possibilities for climbing enthusiasts to head to the hills.
Why choose a climbing holiday?

Try a few famous routes
With parcs close to some of the Alps’ most challenging and iconic climbs, here’s your chance to really test your mettle. From technically difficult, high grade climbs to long and rewarding routes, the roof of Europe awaits!

Introduce your kids to climbing
Europe is criss-crossed with an excellent network of beginner climbs, leading many first-timers to get a love of climbing that stays with them for life. We’ve safe and gentle climbs where the smallest of effort is rewarded with wonderful views.

Climb first, swim later?
Plenty of our parcs allow for a leisurely morning climb followed by a reviving swim in a lake afterwards, a picnic in the park, or a spot of lunch in a pretty Alpine town. It’s your holiday - why make it all hard work? You’ve earned a rest!

Enjoy getting close to nature
Climbing brings the flora and fauna of your destination up close and personal. From bird spotting in the Pyrenees to exploring rare and delicate flowers on the slopes of Austria’s mountain valleys.

Staying fit can be fun
Let’s face it, a life plugged in to social media, or staring at the computer screen isn’t the best route to good health. Exercise that’s fun, and full of fresh air is a sure fire way to get the family in good shape!

Wide open spaces
Climbing holidays take the route less travelled: you can make the map as you walk! Find your perfect ascent, or stick to the guidebook - whatever route you take, it’s easy to escape the crowds and find blissful solitude.

Best regions for
climbing holidays
Some of our destinations are especially great as a base for climbing holidays. So take a look at just a few of our recommendations, and start planning a summer of ascents!
Lake Annecy is surrounded by dramatic soaring peaks, each more inviting than the next. With its vast resources of white peaks, glaciers and shimmering waterfalls, Bourg D’Oisans couldn't be more stunning and beautiful if it tried!
The jagged frontier between France and Spain, the Pyrénées are as formidable as they are inspirational. With routes ranging from a couple of hours to a full week’s wandering, the Pyrénées offer breathtaking views as standard.
With its wide and flat coastal beaches you might be surprised to learn that, just inland, Spain’s sunny Golden Coast offers a myriad of mountain-climbing opportunities. Head just an hour from the sands and you really are in Big Country!
With around 600 peaks over 3,000m high Austria is not short of mountains! Rock climbing is focused around Salzburg and Innsbruck, where you'll find many single pitch sport routes, long alpine multi-pitch routes and bouldering areas.
With its hilly but never-too-strenuous terrain, glinting rivers and patchwork of pretty countryside, the Ardèche offers the most tempting package. Head east for a climbing holiday with routes that are both challenging and chilled out.
