History in Switzerland
Dominated by two rocky outcrops, the old town of Sion has to be seen to be believed. One outcrop is bedecked with a ruined castle, while upon the other you will find a fortress-church.
Built by the Dukes of Zähringen in the early 12th century, Schloss Thun is a striking and perfectly preserved medieval castle set high above the town of Thun. The interiors and even the dungeons are superb.
