Held in honour of Mare de Deu de la Merce, the Patron Saint of Barcelona, La Merced Festival is the main festival of the city. The main events take place on September 24 but festivities last over five days, with up to 500 different activities. Some of the most famous events are the Castellers (human towers) in the Gothic Quarter and the Correfoc (procession of fire breathing dragons) on the Via Laietana as well as the unmissable Parade of Giants.
All over Catalonia streets and squares are filled with stalls of books and flowers and people in fine spirits. Friends and loved ones exchange gifts (traditionally books) to celebrate the Patron Saint of Catalonia. Books and flower stalls are set up along the streets of Barcelona, with many well know artists signing copies of their books.
The festival of Sant Pere de Reus is one of the main events in the calendar for this historic city and its an incredible experience! Giants, cannons, dragons... There are mythical and magical processions, fireworks, concerts, beer tents and everything you need for an unforgettable festival. 2020 dates to be confirmed.
Be prepared to party! The feast of Saint John celebrates the start of summer and is renowned for it's electric atmosphere, parties and above all else fireworks! In Barcelona head to Bareceloneta beach and get ready for a great display.
The Festival of Sant Jaume is the main summer fiesta in Miami Platja. It's celebrated with lots of events and fairs, music and dancing, ending with fireworks on Platja Cristall beach. 2019 dates to be confirmed.
