Our favourite things to do in Spain
With a little siesta, lots of fiesta and bucket loads of sunshine, Spain is the perfect holiday destination for couples and families of all ages. Here are just some of the highlights the sunniest country in Europe has to offer ...

Get Active
You might be surprised to find that, just inland from the Costa Dorada’s beaches lie some of Europe’s most rugged mountains - ripe for a day’s hike. Easier, but no less thrilling, are the nature trails in the Ebro Delta’s wetlands in Costa Brava, or the cycle paths and bridleways that wind their way through the pretty coastal villages of the Costa Verde.

Go beach hopping
Spain does beaches like no other country. Whether you like them sleek and stylish (at Sitges) busy and bustling (such as Cambrils) or wild and wonderful (try Noja’s wide expanse of sand in Costa Verde). For those seeking cosy coves and coastal walks, the coastal path in Costa Brava links a succession of small but perfectly formed pockets of pink sand and azure waters.

Explore culture
Spain is rightly proud of its huge cultural footprint - not least Catalonia. You’ll find Dali’s exquisite and extraordinary art in a number of locations around the Costa Brava, Gaudi’s fluid and organic architecture across sites in Barcelona and beyond, the shimmering facade of Frank Gehry’s game-changing Bilbao outpost of the Guggenheim, and the modernist masterpieces in Reus’ town centre.

Enjoy family thrills
Europe’s biggest theme park, PortAventura, is just outside Tarragona, on the Costa Dorada - and it’s an absolute must-visit if rollercoasters and the latest funfair attractions are your thing. Want to get wetter and wilder, there are no shortage of fantastic waterparks to try, such as Aquadiver, Lloret de Mar, Costa Brava.
