Cool down after the exertion of hiking this beautiful hilly trail with a dip in Lake Gaube. The scenery is breathtaking - and the temperature of the water will take your breath away.
Leave the mountain heights and explore underground. There’s a large network of caves in the Pyrénée; 14km from Lourdes you can visit these grottes by mini-train and underground barge. Or under the Basilique Supérieure is the Grotte de Massabielle, where pilgrims queue for hours to take a dip in the cave’s icy-cold water.
Once a barren area of sand and marshland, this was planted with thousands of pine trees over a century ago and is now Europe’s greatest forest and a haven for wildlife. Pack yourself a picnic and enjoy a ramble or cycle ride.
This is a delightful place to wander around – packed full of all sorts of colourful and interesting plants, and a great place to find out more about the flora of the region.
