There are lots of ‘Grandes Spectacles’ in Valras Plage during the summer months. White dress is mandatory for the three day festival of Saint Pierre, a traditional festival of the fishermen and the sea. Enjoy the street processions, dragon boat challenge, dancing and the fireworks on the jetty. On the Sunday evening a lantern procession returns the statue of Saint Pierre to the church. 2019 dates to be confirmed.
Every year in June, Sérignan holds the ‘Fêtes du Partage’, where all generations are brought together in a spirit of joy to celebrate living together. Everyone is immersed in the Occitan culture with music, theatre and dancing. The festival culminates in a fireworks display, with the sky illuminated in the colours of the Occitan and Catalonia - red and yellow. 2019 date to be confirmed.
A truly diverse Arts festival, boasting nearly 50 official productions and many more fringes in this stunning historic city. The festival hosts some of the world's best directors and theatre companies, showing opera, dance and music performances. One of the highlights of the summer comes in late July, when Vias gets ready to party at the Vias Jazz festival. Held for over 20 years, this three day event is a joyous occasion, with a mix of music from swing to marching bands. 2019 dates to be confirmed.
16th August sees the feast of St Roch, the patron saint of Sérignan. There is a procession after mass, where the statue of St Roch tours the city, followed by a parade of riders, horse-drawn carriages, adults and children. On this feast day the inhabitants bless their horses, co-workers, winemakers, farmers and pets.
