An awesome indoor bouldering centre, that’s perfect for rainy days, or when the kids are ready for a break from sightseeing. This uber cool centre has countless routes of varying difficulties, a great café and even an under 8’s bouldering corner.

Combine mountains with rivers and you get some serious wild water. For an exhilarating experience try rafting down the Gave de Pau, near Lourdes. You can opt for a rafting adventure where you row with a team, or choose a mini-raft and paddle alone. Whatever you do, it won’t be boring!

Walking

Whether you you’re a serious walker, or gentle stroller, you won't be disappointed. Around Biscarrosse there are 120km of hiking paths alone, while the Pyrénées were just made for walking - with so much stunning scenery on offer you’ll want to stop.

Cycling

The vast forests of the Landes contain mile after mile of cycle tracks. There are no big climbs, so it’s easy going all the way and perfect for all the family. Choose from one of the many cycle routes, or just pick up a map and explore at your own pace, you won’t regret it.

Mountain Biking

You’ll need thighs of steel for some of the cycling routes in the high Pyrénées. It’s a great place for road cyclists and those how like to go off-piste on their mountain bikes - you can even try out some of the Tour de France cols, and when you're ready for a break, just sit back and enjoy the scenery.

Golf

With no less than 16 golf courses within a 100km, Biarritz is the perfect place for a golfing holiday. The town boasts the second oldest golf course in Europe – le Golf du Phare is located right in the town centre! What’s more, the mild climate means you can play golf year round.

Fishing Pyrenees

What could be more satisfying than bringing home your catch for dinner? This area is ideal for freshwater fishing with miles of tranquil rivers such as the Ourse, while the Gave d’Oloron is a famous salmon river. Just make sure that you have acquired your permit or Carte de Pèche from the local tackle shop or tourist office first.

Watersports

If you’re a keen surfer you can pit yourself against the Atlantic (big waves guaranteed at Hossegor), whilst wannabe surfing dudes can learn how to hang ten at one of the many schools along the coast.
