On such a mountainous island, you could say climbing is in the ascendancy. Don’t look down at the many opportunities throughout the interior, most notably at Batis, St Florent, Niolo and Ponte Leccia.
Corsica a delightful place to traverse the criss-crossed ancient footpaths. More serious hikers may want to test their mettle on the famous GR20 trail, which runs for 220km, but you’d be really brave to try the lot.
Equestrian centres are available at Bastia, Calvi, Ile Rousse, Lama and Monticello. So saddle up and take advantage of the wealth of riding trails on the island.
Dive or snorkel? If you’ve always fancied exploring the underwater world, splash out on the diving courses for adults and children. Alternatively, you can breathe easy on a snorkelling tour.
