The French Open, one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, is one of the biggest sporting events in France. For two weeks the 500 top tennis players in the world battle it out on the clay courts of the famous Roland Garros Stadium.
With grueling routes covering some of France's most beautifully scenic regions, the Tour de France is an iconic cycle race, attracting huge crowds along the route. The 108th Tour de France will feature a groundbreaking route. The Grand Départ takes place on the 26th June in Brittany in the harbour city of Brest, and the first 4 days of the race will all be spent in the region, before the race heads east and south. The races finishes in Paris on the 18th July.
This French national holiday commemorates the storming of the Bastille on 14th July 1789 - an event that triggered the French revolution – and is marked throughout the French capital with a military parade on the Champs-Elysées and sensational firework show launched from the Eiffel Tower.
