Canoes can be hired from Goumois, Clairbief, Soubey or Tariche for expeditions along the Doubs just across the Swiss border. But no canoodling as river conditions are not always suitable.

If you fancy a brake, Jura is a mountain-bikers paradise, with over 120 marked VTT circuits ranging from easy to ‘Help, mum’. In July and August there’s organised outings around Châlain.
The third largest artificial lake in France, with three well-equipped beaches, provides over 30 kilometres for fishing, water-skiing and jet skiing, as well as canoeing, sailing and rowing.
Active teen alert! You can enjoy a host of outdoor activities, with sailing, windsurfing, jet-skiing, fishing and rowing all available to work off some of that pent up energy.
230 is a heck of a lot of hectares, so you’ll have plenty of room for fishing, sailing, rowing, kayaking, windsurfing and canoeing. And to dry out afterwards there are excellent woodland trails nearby.
This endlessly beautiful region’s lush forests and sparkling lakes are laced with excellent walking and hiking routes. Or for something different, try making an ass of yourself with ‘walks with donkeys’ at Etival.
Is 2,000km of rivers and 2,600 hectares of mountain lakes big enough? Catch up with lamprey, char, brook trout and pike, but not before acquiring a licence from the local fishing association.
