If you wish to sample more of Sicily than the town of San Vito Lo Capo, hire a car and visit the nature reserves at either Lo Zingaro or Monte Cofano. Further afield are Segesta with its ancient Greek temple, Trapani with its windmills, great restaurants at Erice and the island of Mozia just off the coast of Marsala. For watersports take a drive to the beach at Citta del Mare, 67km from the parc.

At Lo Zingaro Nature Reserve there are beautiful strolls by incredible flora and fauna. It has 8 km of coastline with steep cliffs plunging into the sea from heights of up to three thousand feet, a beautiful turquoise sea and small white coves.



The 12th century cathedral at Monreale is well worth a visit simply for the glass mosaics which cover its interior.

If the teenagers want to try orienteering, rope climbing and high wires in a superb woodland setting, they’ll love the Nebrodi Adventure Park at Longi. It’s also a great place to see wildlife including eagles and vultures.

A hugely popular 5 day fiesta in Palermo culminating in an big parade on the 14th and a procession of the relics of in their Patron Saint on the 15th. There's also a lot of partying and a spectacular pyrotechnic firework display on the beach.


Stragusto! Trapani

A fabulous feast, Stragusto is an International Festival of Street Food celebrating the best of Italian, Sicilian and Tunisian food. The old town centre of Trapani is filled with enticing flavours and smells, as some of the best street chefs from around the world promote their great culinary traditions.  Great markets, good food, wine and music make for a popular gastro event. 2020 dates to be confirmed.

A gastro event held in the 'Battle Square' - a day of feasting on pasta with garlic, almonds, tomatoes (Pesto Trapanese) and barbequed sausage. Local melon is also served, along with (of course) lots of good wine! The event includes a parade of majorettes with marching bands and culminates with a dance in the Square. 2020 dates to be confirmed.

‘El Bahira’ is situated close to Lo Zingaro Nature Reserve where there are beautiful strolls by incredible flora and fauna. It has 8 kilometres of coastline with steep cliffs plunging into the sea from heights of up to three thousand feet, a beautiful turquoise sea and small white coves.

If it is watersports you are after then you are best driving to the beach at Citta del Mare.

Sicily has no less than five 18-hole golf courses, with the very beautiful ‘Le Madonie’ being the closest to ‘El Bahira’, and perhaps the best.

This area has recently been developed by British, German and Italian climbers into what is now one of the top European sport climbing destinations. Our Parc at San Vito Lo Capo sits right in the centre of the action. In fact, some routes are only a 5-10 minute walk from your accommodation, with the furthest of the 700+ routes on offer just a 20 minute drive away.

The limestone is generally superb and the bolting here is officially ‘comforting’. There are numerous beginner and middle grade areas too, as well as a huge choice up to 9a; with opportunities for multi pitch and deep water soloing too. You’ll also find that the parc stays open for the annual climbing festival in October, which attracts top climbers and celebrities from across the world.
