There are some great beaches to seek out nearby - about 7.5km of the Cannes coastline is beach and all of Cannes beaches (except those on the Iles de Lerins) are sandy (the sand is actually replenished each year in mid-May). There are 13 public beaches in Cannes as well as two muncipal beaches. For a change of scene, catch the ferry across to the islands, or head along the coast to one of the many chic resorts and towns.

Aqualand Fréjus

One of the largest water parks on the Riviera, Aqualand promises a thrilling day out for all the family. With adrenaline slides like the King Cobra and the Black Hole, as well as plenty of slides for all the family, it's a great place to cool off in the sunshine!

Drive (or sail) along the coast to Monaco - the second smallest country in the world. Visit the Grimaldi Palace and watch the changing of the guard, then take a peek in the extraordinarily lavish Monte Carlo Casino, then try out one of the many fabulous restaurants.

Îles de Léhrins

Just a 15 minute ferry ride from Cannes lie the twin emerald islands of the Îles de Léhrins. The largest, Île Sainte-Marguerite, offers a mix of rocky coves, sandy beaches and walking trails (cars and bikes are not allowed). All the beaches have fabulous views either the Ile Saint Honorat, or of the Cannes to Antibes coastline.

Capital of the French Riviera, Nice boasts a wonderful array of shops, markets and of course beaches. Meander through the narrow streets of the old town, visit one of the great museums, then stroll along the world famous Promenade des Anglais - be warned its nearly 8km long!.

Bravade à Fréjus

Every year, on the third weekend after Easter, the town of Fréjus, celebrates the feast day of Saint Francis de Paul. This historic festival, ‘La Bravade’, includes colourful parades with locals dressed in traditional costumes accompanied by the sounds of flutes and drums. There are musical performances, as well as services in the cathedral and of course a big feast. 2020 dates to be confirmed.

Tour de France

Tour de France

With grueling routes covering some of France's most beautifully scenic regions, the Tour de France is an iconic cycle race, attracting huge crowds along the route. The Grand Départ of 2020 takes place on the 27th June in the city of Nice, with the 170km route on day 1 finishing with a sprint along the Promendade des Anglais. Day 2 again starts and ends in Nice with a trip into the mountains along the way. The races finishes in Paris in July.

Fréjus has a whole host of events and festivals throughout the year. One of the main events not to be missed is the ‘Fête du Raisin’ in early August – there are traditional dances on the steps of the cathedral, wine tastings and market stalls. 2020 dates to be confirmed.

Off Parc Activities

The oldest golf course in the Alpes-Maritimes, 'Golf Old Course Cannes-Mandelieu' is just 2km from the parc. Dating back to 1891, the course still delights golf enthusiasts today. Golfers will be spoilt for choice though, with the Riviera Golf de Barbossi just 3km away.  For those seeking more active pursuits, there's plenty of watersports to be found along the coast, why not try your hand at jet-skiing, or the even the new sport of flyboarding!
