Sightseeing

The wide open spaces along the Zeeland coast, promise mile after mile of sandy beaches. The beaches from Oostkapelle have a Blue flag and are ranked amongst the top 10 cleanest beaches in the Netherlands. The picturesque seaside village of Veere (15km) makes for a great afternoon out, and just half an hour away is the important port of Vlissingen (you might know it by it's English name of Flushing) with attractions for all the family including the Reptile zoo Iguana. Further afield, but definitely worth a visit, are the historic towns of Ghent and Antwerp in Belgium.

Vlissingen

Historically known as 'Flushing' in the UK, this city and ancient sea port has a lot to offer including a maritime museum, the Het Arsenaal pirate themed attraction (with shark aquarium) and the Reptile Zoo Iguana, which is the largest covered reptile zoo in Europe. The resort is also famous for its Blue Flag beach and seaside boulevard.

Locals and tourists alike love Ghent and no wonder! The historic centre is full of beautiful buildings and churches. Must see attractions include The Castle of the Counts, St Bavo's Cathedral, medieval Graslei and St Michael's Bridge which offers wonderful views of the city.

Now known for its bold, modern architecture, there's plenty to see in this bustling city. Explore the De Deflt Museum at the shipyard or go sky high in The Euromast for fantastic 360-degree views. Visit FutureLand, the brilliant Rotterdam Zoo or travel by waterbus and view the windmills at Kinderdijk.

A city of diamonds, beer, fashion and culture! The historic centre dates back to the Middle Ages, visit the famous Grote Mart, or stroll down the aisle of Belgium's finest cathedral.  There's a brilliant choice of museums, great breweries, a zoo and even a dinky castle to explore.

Rotterdam Martathon

Rotterdam Marathon

The biggest one-day sporting event in the Netherlands sees the world's top athletes negotiate the city's atmospheric marathon alongside thousands of other runners. The main marathon race takes place on the Sunday, but on the Saturday there is a mini-marathon (4km) and fun races for children (of 1km, or 2½ kms).

Holland Flower Parade, Noordwijk

Flower Parade

The annual Flower parade begins at Noordwijk at 9.30am on the Saturday and finishes in Haarlem at 9pm, passing the popular Keukenhof. 20 fabulous floats and around 40 beautifully decorated cars will travel the 42 kilometres route, treating spectators to a fabulous display of colour and aroma. On Sunday the floats will remain on view in Haarlem until 5pm. In 2019 the parade is being held earlier than usual (due to to Easter falling on the 20th April).

King's Day

Events are held throughout The Netherlands to celebrate the king's official birthday. In Amsterdam the city is bursting with orange pride in the biggest street party of the year, with around 750,000 people expected to join in the fun. Most events begin at midday, with the biggest and most popular party venues held in the Westerstraat, Prinsengracht and Reguliersdwarsstraat.

Please note many of Amsterdams major museums and attractions are closed on King's Day.

Summer Carnival Rotterdam

This festival, with it's focus on diversity, is one of the biggest in the Netherlands, attracting 900,00 visitors from all over Europe. It's a great 5 day experience with many art and cultural events, live performances, major international artists and a vibrant summer carnival.

Off Parc Activities

Zeeland is perfect for exploring by bike - there are miles of cycle routes to explore and as it's all low lying, it's easy riding all the way. Alternatively, take to the water and go windsurfing or try your hand at kitesurfing. Whatever your sport, there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy near by; there's even a Skidome less than an hour away!
