Sightseeing

If you can tear yourself away from the parc's own array of attractions, the largest theme park in the Netherlands, de Efteling is less than 19km away, and offers attractions for all ages. The historical yet contemporary city of Breda is worth a visit, with its numerous art museums and its beautiful 15th century church. Cultural and artistic Eindhoven, too, is most certainly worth a trip, thanks to its array of shops, bars and restaurants as well as museums, parks, theatres and sports.

De Efteling, the largest theme park in the Netherlands, is less than 20 km from the campsite. There are rides and attractions to suit all ages and the spectacular fountains show is sure to impress everybody.

This parc is surrounded by beautiful lakes, canals and nature trails to discover and to help you feel rid of life’s distractions but if you like the hustle and bustle of city life then the Dutch town of Hilvarenbeek is nearby.

Safari Park

Beekse Bergen

The children will be entertained all day long at Beekse Bergen leisure area which has a wild animal reserve, a theme park with water rides and fun playgrounds, and a zoo. You can take numerous safaris round the park, walking, driving or boating to see sights of the African savannah.

Breda

Breda

The historical yet contemporary city of Breda is worth a visit, with its numerous art museums and its beautiful 15th century church. It also has chic shopping and a lovely market square. You should also visit Eindhoven, a fine old city with a modern heart, where the attractions include the superb Contemporary Arts Museum and an array of shops and restaurants.

Rotterdam Martathon

Rotterdam Marathon

The biggest one-day sporting event in the Netherlands sees the world's top athletes negotiate the city's atmospheric marathon alongside thousands of other runners. The main marathon race takes place on the Sunday, but on the Saturday there is a mini-marathon (4km) and fun races for children (of 1km, or 2½ kms).

Netherlands Film Festival, Utrecht

Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival

Known as the platform for Dutch film, the Fantastic Film Festival in Amsterdam presents Dutch and international films. Lasting for over a week it is a popular cultural event.

Holland Flower Parade, Noordwijk

Flower Parade

The annual Flower parade begins at Noordwijk at 9.30am on the Saturday and finishes in Haarlem at 9pm, passing the popular Keukenhof. 20 fabulous floats and around 40 beautifully decorated cars will travel the 42 kilometres route, treating spectators to a fabulous display of colour and aroma. On Sunday the floats will remain on view in Haarlem until 5pm. In 2019 the parade is being held earlier than usual (due to to Easter falling on the 20th April).

King's Day

Events are held throughout The Netherlands to celebrate the king's official birthday. In Amsterdam the city is bursting with orange pride in the biggest street party of the year, with around 750,000 people expected to join in the fun. Most events begin at midday, with the biggest and most popular party venues held in the Westerstraat, Prinsengracht and Reguliersdwarsstraat.

Please note many of Amsterdams major museums and attractions are closed on King's Day.

Windmill Days

National Mill Day

The second Saturday and Sunday in May is National Mill Day in Holland. On that day 950 windmills and watermills open their doors to visitors. For centuries, mills have played an important role in reclaiming land, processing raw materials and manufacturing products. Mills barely have any economic value these days, but they still remain an iconic feature. On this special weekend, millers make a real effort to decorate their mills as beautifully as possible and will usually give guided tours.

Showcasing new acts alongside famous pop and rock bands, Pinkpop attracts a diverse following every year, making for a cracking atmosphere for all. The Amsterdam Roots Festival takes place annually in June. It is a leading festival of non-western music and attracts bands and artists from all over the world. Enjoyed by approximately 60.000 visitors each year, it's considered to be one of the most important music festivals in Holland. Listen to performances of fado, zouk dance, hiphop, latin-jazz, rumba, flamenco and more! The music comes from all corners of the earth, from Cape Verde to the Caribbean and from Mongolia to South Africa. 2019 dates to be confirmed.

Amsterdam's annual contemporary dance festival takes place on a variety of stages at the Leidesplein and other venues across Amsterdam. Dances are performed by international artists and contemporary choreographers, showcasing all the latest trends and the most innovative creations in the field. Text, visual arts, film and urban dance are a regular feature of this festival. 2019 dates to be confirmed.

This festival, with it's focus on diversity, is one of the biggest in the Netherlands, attracting 900,00 visitors from all over Europe. It's a great 5 day experience with many art and cultural events, live performances, major international artists and a vibrant summer carnival.

Grachtenfestival, Amsterdam

Also known as the Canal Festival, this popular event attracts visitors from all over. Performers and musicians will take to the stage in various unique locations both indoor and outdoor, from boats to pontoons to 17-century canal-side houses!
