A little bit Roman, and ever so Moorish

What do a superb Spanish location and endless family-friendly activities have in common? La Torre del Sol, that’s what.

This parc is superbly designed around a cluster of buildings inspired by Roman and Moorish themes. You’ll find a shaded restaurant, lined with banana trees and palm trees. The sparkling pool complex features a pirate pool for kids, as well as Jacuzzis (including one shaped like a snake!). Add to that table tennis, cycle hire, an outdoor gym and a kid’s disco…well, you get the picture! Due to its location, there is some noise from nearby road and rail links. Also, we recommend you hire a car, as the main resort isn’t within walking distance - but your holiday will be even more enjoyable with that extra freedom!

Torre del Sol is an incredibly over-crowded Parc. It is not suitable for Irish families since the make-up of the clients are 55% French 40% Dutch and 5% other nationalities. Even the Eurocamp Mobile homes had Dutch and French families in them, and the homes were incredibly close to each other. We've been Camping now for 15 years and I've never had such lack of privacy on any vacation. Our decking area was 2 feet from the opposite site's decking area and we even had to whisper private conversations in the evening as we sat outside. The Pool is incredibly insufficient for the amount of families staying there. On top of that, a significant portion of the site is given over to Tents & mobile homes, therefore I would imagine that there is little control over exactly how many people there are per pitch / site. The Pool was simply wall-to-wall teenagers every single minute of every day .. and I mean every square foot of the pool .. there is simply no way anyone could swim any great distance in comfort in the pool. The pool is also surrounded on all sides by over-hanging trees ??? .. therefore the concept of lying-by the pool and get a sun-tan, with the ability to pop in and have a swim was simply impossible. Not a single square-foot of space existed in the pool to swim each day. It was an incredible disappointment. The lack of english speaking families meant that the general noise and conversations at the pool & other areas of the Parc were all in Dutch and French, which was very off-putting. We never felt integrated at any stage. There was a useless crazy-golf course located down one side of the pool area completely fenced-off, and completely unused. The owners of the Parc need to dig up that complete area and either extend or create a new pool area. Other parks had 2/3 large pools that served each area of the parc. This parc only had one pool area ( ok, it has 2 pools separated by 2 feet of path - but essentially one pool area ) and hence the concentration of people there & the lack of Beds/lidos was incredible. The Mobile home we were given had a faulty air conditioning unit and we spent the first night in sweltering heat inside. At one stage smoke emanated from the unit as the fans seemed to come in-contact with something inside the unit causing it to over heat !! .. Even the 'Off' button on the remote had no effect so I had to flick the trip-switch on the Fuse panel to switch it off !! .. We were lucky that the following day was Monday and a Service engineer was on-duty & able to fix it ( but it didn't function 100% after that ). Towards the end of the holiday, the French family next to us said that the Previous Irish Family had arrived on a Friday & were looking at the whole weekend with no Air-Con, so they demanding to be moved - so I'm really annoyed with the fact that it was known to the EuroCamp Staff that the Air Con unit had already been giving trouble & YET STILL booked us into that Site ( Cabin no. 30 ). Also, a section of the wall paper in one of the bedrooms had been ripped off Prior to our booking ?? .. and the door to the shower was completely vandalised from the inside & had scratches and scrapes like some caged animal had tried to get out ???? .. We mentioned all this to the Rep, who as I mentioned, was lucky to arrange the Service technician to come the following day & partially fix the Air Con and also re-papered the Bedroom wall with a different pattern of wall paper ?? .. The Reps were generally helpful & available whenever we rang, so they were just dealing with what they had. We were also short 2 lidos/Beds out side our Cabin which the Rep was able to secure one of them for us later in the week. The parc had an entrance onto the local beach, however, the Tent & Motor-home sites were located closest to that exit, therefore every morning, thousands of families would pour onto the beach with Beds, seats, Volley ball nets etc, so much so, that when you exited onto the beach area, you could barely see the water !! .. Therefore, EVERY day our vacation involved packing everything up into our car, EXITING the Parc, driving one mile down the road to an small access-road that lead down onto the beach & enjoyed relative comfort / privacy / quietness / and access to the sea with a lovely restaurant over our shoulder at the beach front. We passed the Parc-pool each day as we exited to witness the complete Chaos and over crowding & simply shook our heads and drove on. We've been to the following parks over the years in the area : Sanguli / Cambrils / Montroig / Loret del Mar .. and THIS was by far the worst we have ever been to. We would never return here. We generally holiday at the same time each year, so using excuses such as .. 'Oh you came at a very busy time ' .. simply won't cut it. Every other parc manages their crowds and clients very well. This parc is simply Packing & Racking families as much as they can get away-with & simply not putting the money back in to develop the parc further for the crowds that now go there. I would NEVER go back to this park.

The proximity to a lovely beach made this holiday. The park itself was fine but didn't compare to our previous experience in camp albatros in Italy. The main restaurant was a let down. The service was bad.
