Sightseeing

See the racing yachts at the harbour at nearby port Trinité-sur-Mer, and take in the stunning views along the Quiberon peninsula. There is a weekly market at the pretty town of Auray, just 20 minutes drive away, and Vannes with its aquarium just over half an hour's drive. Closer to parc, take a boat trip and watch the sand yachts racing on the beach at the Gulf of Morbihan. There are also of course Carnac's famous Standing Stones. For the adventurous there's a treetop adventure park just 8km away.

For a cultural day out then visit Parc de Branféré which has a château set in 35 hectares of land and a botanical and bird park. There is also a restaurant and snack bar. Another pleasant day out is ‘La Ferme du Monde’, a wooded area with 400 animals and a children’s farm for petting.

Aquarium de Vannes

Just 8 km away there is a treetop adventure park for the thrill seekers. If you don’t fancy swinging through the trees, then how about exploring the world’s oceans? Vannes has an aquarium which is only half an hour’s drive away and has 50 tanks or there is Ocearium du Croisic.

Carnac is famous for its standing stones, a must see whilst staying at Les Menhirs. To go back to Neolithic times visit Archeoscope, located across from the Alignements de Menhirs, and see the special effects show.

If you would like to experience the local markets then there is a weekly market at the pretty town of Auray, 20 minutes away. Carnac also has night markets in July and August with craft stalls, live music and entertainment.

For the perfect relaxing trip then travel to the nearby port of Trinité-sur-Mer: watch yachts racing in the harbour, marvel at the boats, and take in the dramatic Quiberon peninsular. Watch sand yachts racing on the beach at the Gulf of Morbihan, which you can take a lovely boat trip to.

Musée de Prehistoire de Carnac

There is much to do in Carnac which is the closest town to the park. There is the Musée de Prehistoire de Carnac, which is renowned for its archaeological and prehistoric exhibitions, a state-of-the-art thalassotherapy centre, five different sandy beaches, two of which are supervised with kid’s clubs, and not to mention the oyster farms.

Tour de France

With gruelling routes covering some of France's most beautifully scenic regions, the Tour de France is an iconic cycle race, attracting huge crowds along the route. The Grand Départ of 2018 takes place on the 7th July starting on the Island of Noirmoutier. The early stages of the race go through the Vendée and Brittany regions. As usual there are exciting mountains stages in the French Alps and the Pyrenees.The races finishes in Paris on the 29th July.

Off Parc Activities

Bikes can be hired from Carnac Plage to cycle around the peninsular, but if you want to get in the water then there are a good range of water sports available. St-Colomban at Carnac-Plage is the place for wind- and kite-surfers. Also just outside the parc children can go on pony rides.
