A busy weekly market is held in the small town of Ploumanc'h which is in walking distance of the parc. If you'd like to walk a bit further, take a stroll along the old smugglers paths which go for miles along the Pink Granite coastline. Alternatively take a boat trip out to Les Sept Isles, located off the coast of Perros Guirec, the home of seals and 27 different species of birds.

Days Out

Tregomeur Zoo

Eden farm

Over 80 species of animals can be petted at ‘Eden farm’, just over 50 km from the site. Slightly further away is ‘Trégomeur Zoo’, which is centred on the animals and plants from Asia and Madagascar, including snow leopards, lemurs and gibbons.

Perros Guirec, brittany, pink granite coast

The buildings of Saint-Jaques church and ‘Chapelle Notre Dame de la Clarté’ are impressive sites made from the areas stunning pink granite. To explore the wildlife of the area there are boat trips out to Les Sept Isles, where you can see seals and a myriad of bird species (the largest bird sanctuary in France). Excursions run regularly from Plage de Trestraou.

Aquarium Marin de Trégastel

Aquarium Marin de Trégastel

To discover the deep oceans make your way through the deep caves - ‘Aquarium Marin de Trégastel’ is located in caves under a mass of enormous rocks. They have a variety of fish from Breton waters and tropical seas, as well as displays of taxidermy birds.

To explore somewhere with a truly Breton feel then take a trip to the Roman port of Lannion to see the half-timbered houses bordering narrow, atmospheric streets. The city is dominated by the ‘Église de Brélévenez’ templar church, which is situated at the top of over 100 granite steps – take the hike and you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding areas.

Walking and hiking

Brittany’s landscapes are as varied as they are spectacular. It’s a region of great diversity, full of natural landscapes, seascapes, and heritage, inhabited by Neolithic men! Walking helps you discover Brittany’s many species of flora and fauna, as well as its history – including Megoliths, Dolmans, Ancient Mills and Chateaux - and the best places are often found off-road!

Whether it’s the dramatic coastline, or hidden valleys, there are lots of tracks and trails to explore. La Ranolien campsite lies on the Cotes D’Amor in Northern Brittany, probably best known as Le Granit Rose (Pink Granite Coast), a huge area of conservation with its weird and wonderful rock formations, small coves, and offshore islands. For nature lovers, the Sept-Iles - a boat trip away - is a fantastic area for sea birds from May to September, and you can also visit the nearby Bird Station on Ile Grande. Walking on the coast would not be the same without an appreciation of the amazing sea life surrounding you, so why not visit a sea aquarium to find out all about it on the Tregastel walk, close to the campsite.
