Venice is the perfect place for a spot window-shopping. Look out for the mask shops for striking examples of masks worn at the annual Venice Carnival. The Rialto Bridge in Venice is a good place to shop for souvenirs, especially glassware, lace and leather goods. Be prepared to haggle as the prices at the stalls are not fixed!
Many islands are dotted throughout the lagoon and some of these can be easily explored by boat. San Michele is known as the 'Island of the Dead' - an atmospheric cemetery of gardens and statues!
This fabulous city holds a wealth of attractions including the golden basilica of San Marco, Doges Palace and world famous Opera House. The Guggenheim Collection in the Palazzo Venier is a must see for fans of modern art.
This popular resort is all about the beach with just over 16km of golden sand, backed by a paved walkway, busy shops and scores of restaurants, cafes and ice-cream parlours. In the evenings the street is pedestrianised and is a great place to walk, shop, eat and drink.
If you want to feel a rush of blood to the head then Aqualandia may have what you are looking for... its home to a terrifying bungee jump and some extreme slides. Themed around a Caribbean Isle, cool off in the fantastic lagoons and wave pools, then enjoy one of great shows.
Jesolandia Amusement Park is nearby. There are lots of classic rides as well as high adrenaline ones. It is a night time attraction, opening at 8 pm, although it is very child friendly. Also close at hand is the Pista Azzurra – one of the most important go-karting tracks in Europe.

The Vogalonga is a famous rowing race that began in 1975 and takes place on Pentecost Sunday. Each year more than 400 boats take part, with entrants from over 50 Venetian rowing clubs, as well as people from all over the world; in the past these have included a Chinese crew in a dragon boat and a local resident who has twice swam the entire course of the race! The race starts and finishes in St Mark's Basin, with the course taking the rowers across the lagoon to Burano Island and back through Cannaregio. 2020 dates to be confirmed.
The Palio Remiero rowing race has become an eagerly awaited event in Cavallino-Treporti. A whole month full of events and festivals with 12 local districts competing in races and celebrating local traditions. 2020 dates to be confirmed.
Boasting fireworks, decorations and floats, this festival brings a riot of colour to Venice every July. Beginning life as a feast to give thanks for the end of the terrible plague of 1576, Festa del Redentore has now become a much more grand affair where Venetians and tourists alike dine on boats and indulge in the array of summer festivities.
